After a dramatic and weather-affected campaign, the Connacht Cricket Union Premier League 2025 has reached its conclusion!
Congratulations to Ballaghaderreen, who are crowned Premier League Champions after a season of grit, consistency, and crucial wins. They finished on 79.44% of possible points, narrowly edging out University of Galway (78.52%) in one of the tightest finishes in recent years. Ballaghaderreen’s ability to win key head-to-head clashes proved decisive in securing the title.
Season Highlights
Ballaghaderreen:
Champions thanks to big wins at crucial moments, showing composure when it mattered most. They only conceded one loss all season when University of Galway bowled and fielded superbly to seal a 37-run win. However, in their next clash they beat University of Galway by 30 runs. That result flipped the head-to-head balance and proved decisive in the title race.
University of Galway:
Strong runners-up, with seven wins in total, they pushed Ballaghaderreen all the way in the title race, falling just short by the narrowest of margins. A team that combined strong batting depth with disciplined bowling, they leave the season with plenty of pride and momentum heading into 2026.
County Galway:
Entertaining campaign with memorable highlights, most notably a thrilling 1-wicket victory that denied the University of Galway vital points and ultimately swung the title race in Ballaghaderreen’s favour. They also featured in the CCU’s first ever tied game, a high-scoring clash with Ballyhaunis where both sides finished on 226 runs.
Ballyhaunis, Kilconnell, & Galway Shamrock:
Battled hard despite inconsistent seasons, contributing competitive games and showcasing emerging talent.
