Three exciting clashes saw Connacht clubs showcase skill, spirit, and standout performances in the opening round of the Cricket Ireland National Cup!

County Kerry [78/2] vs Ballyhaunis [75]

Oyster Oval, Tralee | County Kerry won by 8 wickets

Ballyhaunis won the toss and chose to bat first managing to put 75 on the board.  Ballyhaunis bowlers hit back early with 2 quick wickets, applying pressure, but strong hitting from County Kerry earned them the victory.

County Galway CC [318/3] vs Burndennett CC [110]

 Lydican, Galway | County Galway won by 208 runs

Batting first, County Galway put on a batting masterclass, giving Galway a score of 318-3 from their 40 overs. The bowlers backed up this display claiming 10 wickets booking their place in Round 2!

University of Galway [227/8] vs Ballymena [222/9]

Eaton Park, Ballymena | Galway won by 8 runs

University of Galway won the toss and chose to bat first. The team managed to put up 227 runs in 40 overs. The steady fall of wickets in the second innings led to a match that could go both ways. In a last-over-thriller, University of Galway sealed their biggest win of the season.

A brilliant weekend for Connacht Cricket Union, with University of Galway and County Galway progressing to Round 2 of the National Cup!

8th June 2025

County Galway [184] vs Wexford Wanderers [78]

Wexford RFC,Wexford | County Galway won by 106 runs

A huge win on the road for County Galway! After posting a solid 184 with the bat, the bowlers were relentless, tearing through Wexford’s lineup for just 78. A complete team performance and a statement victory by 106 runs.

University of Galway [164] vs Terenure [166/3]

Lydican, Galway | Terenure won by 7 wickets

A spirited effort from University of Galway, battling to 164 on home turf with key contributions through the order. The bowlers worked hard but Terenure’s chase proved too strong.

29th June 2025

County Galway [161/9] vs Laois [144]

Lydican, Galway | County Galway won by 17 runs

A hard-fought win at home for County Galway! Runs on the board proved crucial as the team battled to 161/9 in 39.6 overs. The bowlers then held their nerve under pressure, striking at key moments to bowl Laois out for 144 in 34.6 overs. A gritty 17-run victory and another big result in front of the home crowd

Terenure [241/9] vs Ballyspallen [242/3]

Ballyspallen won by 7 wickets

County Kerry [235/9] vs Glendermott [179]

County Kerry won by 56 runs

Carrickfergus [234/3] vs Adamstown [233/6]

Carrickfergus won by 1 run

Semi Finals

13th July 2025

County Galway [317/4] vs Terenure [109]

Lydican, Galway | County Galway won by 208 runs

What a dominant performance from County Galway! A massive 317/4 set the benchmark, and the bowlers delivered in style, skittling Terenure for just 109. A comprehensive 208-run victory, the team fired on all cylinders to land their place in the final!

County Kerry won by 9 runs

Final

17th August 2025

County Galway [218] vs County Kerry [163]

Bready, Magheramason | County Galway won by 55 runs

Galway defeated County Kerry by 55 runs in yesterday’s final at Bready, claiming their first ever National Cup title and becoming the first Connacht club in history to lift the trophy. 

County Galway 218 all out (38.5 overs), brilliant 63 from Sukphal Singh, gaining him the player of the match award. County Kerry 163 all out (36 overs), superb bowling from Khizar Mehmood taking 3 wickets

This historic win comes in the same year that the Connacht Cricket Union was officially recognised by Cricket Ireland as a Provincial Union. To celebrate our first national title alongside that recognition shows just how far the game has come in the west
